MY HOPE IS MY CHOICE

Date: September 29, 2020 | Danielle Damrell

I was listening to a podcast earlier today that so eloquently explained how hope is a CHOICE. I’m not entirely sure why that was such a big “AH-HA!” moment for me, but it was. So often I think of hope as something that is easily lost and not-so-easily regained. Realizing that HOPE is a CHOICE is so freeing and liberating at the same time!

Hope is not something that another person can tangibly take from you... it is not something that someone else gets to decide for you... AND LISTEN UP: IT IS ALWAYS THERE TO LEAN INTO!

Don’t get me wrong, I am DEFINITELY NOT naïve when it comes to the pain that can follow hope when something doesn’t go the way that it “should.” Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of anger towards myself for hoping “too much” (or what feels to be “too much” when my expectations were misaligned with my heart).

But for me, no matter how many times I think I FEEL hopeless, I always end up leaning back into hope. MY HOPE, first and foremost, is in Jesus- who literally IS hope in entirety. Hope in better days to come, even though I have NO IDEA what that looks like. Whether it’s tomorrow or when I’m at the foot of the cross, I HOPE for better days ahead in one form or another. I HOPE for healing, joy, peace, and wisdom in my own life... so that tomorrow doesn’t seem so terrible to think about.

MY HOPE IS MY CHOICE.
Period.
And there’s nothing you can do about it. 😘
